Signs of the Times

Parallel to our weekly midweek prayer meeting studies, one can truly ask the question that had been floating around since ages past – ‘God, why?’

Why does God allow these things to happen? I am talking about the current events that are hugging the front page of every major newspaper. Incessant killings in Iraq, unending calamities worldwide, tragedies after tragedies that makes you numb to even ask the very question that always come to mind – ‘Why Lord, why?’

Interesting to note is the related subject that came up recently in the news about the ossuaries supposedly belonging to the family of Jesus. The timing of this news is subtle yet disturbing as it tear down the very core of Christian fundamental beliefs. I recently was partly reading a book titled ‘John's Story: the last eyewitness’ and found out that the early Christians have the same dilemma that we are experiencing today when personal calamities happened popping the very same question ‘God, why?’ giving the ubiquitous deceiver an opportunity to plant the seed in one’s heart that became man’s downfall which is DOUBT.

Brethren, beware. We have a responsibility to be aware and become aware of what’s happening around us. We were given the gift to read and comprehend the signs of the times and we hope and pray that we can act and react to these accordingly from what the Good book says. God Bless.
